Nakshatra Dhanishtha
Dhanishtha (23°20′ Capricorn – 6°40′ Aquarius)
Varahamihira: Moon in Dhanishtha means a person who is free-spirited, rich, brave and fond of music.
Dhanishthi’s symbol is a drum, and her deities are the eight Vedic gods known as Vasu. Vasu can be translated simultaneously as “good, wonderful, charitable” and “wealthy, possessing property.” All these qualities are inherent in Dhanishtha, who rules valuables, including jewelry and precious metals. Other meanings are mercy and charity, and an innate ability to supervise and command others.
The Lagna or Moon here often indicates an optimistic and ambitious personality. Drum refers to sound, especially musical and rhythmic. One feature consistently attributed to Dhanishtha is marital discord and/or sexual problems.
This tendency is enhanced if Saturn is in this nakshatra, especially if it rules the 7th house of the horoscope. Sometimes the wedding is simply postponed, and sometimes – completely upset. Men who are strongly influenced by Dhanishthi often become misogynists. Confirmation of such trends should, as always, be sought in another horoscope.
